This is a sad dramatisation about the real life blind, deaf mute man known only as John Doe Number 24. He was discovered in Jacksonville, Illinois as a boy and sent to a succession of hospitals and institutions, but they never discovered his name or traced any relatives throughout his life. At first thought retarded, they discovered he was actually very intelligent, with a love of jazz. The play is very short, but gets the message across. It was inspired by the song of the same name by Mary-Chapin Carpenter on her album "Stones in the Road".

With very minor changes, the part of Emily could easily be played by a disabled actress.
